What London jobs tend to look like

More than anywhere else in the UK, London assembly happens in flats — Victorian conversions in Islington and Clapham with narrow communal stairs, mansion blocks with temperamental lifts, and new-build towers in Stratford, Nine Elms and Canary Wharf where the service lift needs booking through the concierge. Mention the floor, lift and any building rules in your enquiry: carrying time is real time, and a booked service lift can halve it.

The rental market drives a lot of the work too. Landlords and agents furnishing lets between tenancies — often several wardrobes, beds and chests in one visit — are routine jobs here, and several of our partners offer day rates for full-property furnishes. One London-specific note on quotes: travel is priced differently here. Congestion Charge, ULEZ-compliant vans, and parking (or the lack of it) all factor into what assemblers charge, especially in zone 1 and 2. A visitor parking permit or a loading bay you can legitimately offer is genuinely worth mentioning — it can shave real money off a quote.

Furniture supply is easy: IKEA Croydon, Greenwich, Tottenham and Wembley cover the compass points, and same-day delivery from Argos, B&Q and the online retailers reaches every postcode. Most assemblers here are happy with "delivered yesterday, build today" scheduling — just have the boxes inside the flat, not in the lobby, before they arrive.
